TUSCANY SEA AND COST

Since the time of the free cities the Piazza della Signoria, towered by Palazzo Vecchio, has always been the centre of political and social power. From the Piazzale Michelangelo that lies on a hill in the south-east of the town, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Florence. The Tuscan coast, from Livorno to Argentario, is full of Etruscan ruins, and its name is due to the Etruscans, who left their marks on the landscape and on some re-emerged treasures just to the south of the region near Grosseto and the Bassa Maremma. Ferry boats leave from Livorno and Piombino to Elba and Capraia everyday. The Tyrrhenian coast is a fine example of a metamorphic landscape. One side Tuscany is narrow, prolonged and open to the sea, where you can reach the most beautiful islands of the archipelago, Elba, Gorgona, Populonia e Golfo di Baratti, Pianosa, Montecristo, Capraia, Giglio and Giannutri, and on the other side, the region is full of green hills and the landscapeis characterized by Mediterranean flora and the country of Maremma. The tuscan coast is a union of art, history and nature with a mild climate so the tourist can enjoy beaches, cliffs, and natural parks. The archaelogical way from Rosignano, Cecina, Bibbona, reaching Campiglia Marittima and then Capalbio, Baratti and Populonia, arrives at the Etruscan ruins of Roselle, Vetulonia and Tarquinia near Grosseto, or you can choose the medeival way with the ancient villages of Bolgheri, Castagneto, Suvereto and Sassetta on one side, and Massa Marittima, Sovana and Pitigliano on the other. The third way, the Wine's Way leads you via the typical products of our land, the folklorist festivals such as the butteri of Maremma (cowboys). There are many ways to walk, on foot or by bicycle, through natural parks and preserves along the coast: from the parks of the Val di Cornia of the Etruscan Coast to the most famous Uccellina's Park of the south Maremma. You have a lot of reasons to come to this land full of natural and cultural beauties, of sun and sea, where tradition links modernity and efficiency of campingplaces and tourist villages, today it's still a land to discover.
