SANGIANO VARESE NATURAL AREAS

Sangiano (Sangiàn in varesino dialect) is an Italian town of 1,536 inhabitants in the province of Varese in Lombardy. It bordered to the north-west with Laveno Mombello, in the north-east and south with Leggiuno Caravate. It is located a few kilometers from Lake Maggiore and to the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso.

Monte Sangiano (532 m). Classified as SCI (Site of Community Importance). Of particular note is the presence, though now greatly reduced, the "dry grassland": naturalistic areas rich in many species of animals and plants. With its characteristic "Picuz" (spur), it is offering spectacular views of Lake Maggiore and the Varese lakes, plus the ability to carry out excursions along the numerous and characteristic nature trails.
At the base of the wall, 400 m, is an equipped crag climbing. The place is quiet and offers a number of ways of difficulty between 3b and 6c. The rock is a good limestone, a little 'greasy on some streets. The exhibition is to the south, you can climb all year.
